Volunteers lined The Strand in Dawlish this week to raise funds for those homeless after some of the worst storms in English history.
“We’ve been out collecting and people have been so generous,” said Newton Abbot MP Anne-Marie Morris.
“We’re not talking about people giving the odd 5p, it’s more like the odd £20 note.”
Also last week, the British royal princes, William and Harry, rolled up their sleeves to help with flood relief.
They joined the armed forces effort, moving sandbags in Datchet, Berkshire, just two miles from the royal home, Windsor Castle.
