In an effort to convey the importance of healthy foods, First Lady Michelle Obama joined 26 elementary schoolchildren wielding shovels, rakes, pitchforks and wheelbarrows to break ground on a new vegetable and herb garden for the White House — the first since Eleanor Roosevelt’s victory garden in World War II. In the coming weeks they will return to plant the lettuces, berries, herbs, and other produce that will be used in the White House kitchen.

It’s heartwarming to see the First Lady working with students to break ground for the White House garden. I love the Obamas and their down home sincere approaches to our nations’ issues. Real people doing real things. Here’s a woman who will teach us all. You go girl! 🙂
Sitting here smiling about this story. I love that the kids will come for multiple visits. What a way to create future citizens who see the White House as their house.
What a difference she is making. Pure sincerety, and enthusiasm to make the white house what it should be, the peoples house!
I LOVE that Michelle lady! With her ready smile, she makes ME smile. What a boost she is for EVERYONE!
