Today Charmin unveils the first ever, fully-staffed, deluxe public restrooms in New York City’s Times Square just in time for the holiday season. The Charmin Restrooms — an installation of 20 plush restrooms — are a treat for families and seniors who need toilets in the high-traffic shopping area during the busiest time of year. The Restrooms are staffed with attendants to service each stall after every use. Added luxuries include a lavish blue waiting area with flat-screened TVs in the walls, plush sofas and fireplace, baby changing stations,… stroller parking, seating areas, oversize teddy bears for the kids and aromatherapy to ease the stress of shopping.
The toilet tissue company tried to make it easy for you to find them while doing your holiday shopping. They’ve converted part of a former warehouse in Times Square and added a huge neon blue sign with the word "Restrooms" and a downward pointing arrow to attract shoppers until December 31.
The innovative marketing idea is expensive (company officials won’t say how much) but it will definitely, according to Dennis Legault, Brand Manager for Charmin, "Guarantee an irreplaceable bathroom experience in the heart of Times Square."
The Restrooms are located at 1540 Broadway in Times Square between West 45th and West 46th Street next to the Virgin megastore. Hours open to the public include 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM seven days a week except Christmas day. You can find them open on Thanksgiving until 6pm, and on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
Charmin expects more than 330,000 flushes in the stalls during this holiday season.
