Last July, John “Rip” Fliszar, a proud graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, died of a heart attack. Among his survivors is his husband, Mark Ketterson, who remembered that Rip always said he wanted his ashes interred at the Naval Academy in Annapolis.
Ketterson talked to NPR’s Scott Simon about the respect and support that the U.S. Naval Academy provided for the gay couple.
