Underserved and uninsured North Carolina residents will soon have two new health care facilities to address their needs thanks to basketball legend Michael Jordan.
The first of the two Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinics opened to the public earlier this month in Charlotte thanks to a $7 million gift from the NBA champion.
The facility will offer primary and preventative care to Charlotte residents in the lower-income sector of the city.

As Jordan prepared to cut the ribbon to the new facility, he said that it was “just the start of a battle of being able to touch as many people as we can.”
“This is a very emotional thing for me to be able to give back to a community that has supported me over the years,” Jordan tearfully told reporters at the ceremony.
