racing marines carry boy w ProstheticWhile running the last mile of a youth triathlon Sunday, Ben Baltz’s prosthetic leg broke and the 11-year-old went down. That’s when a group of Marines stepped in and carried him the rest of the way.

More than a few people crying as they crossed the finish line.

According to the CNN iReport, Ben completed the 150-yard swim and 4-mile bike ride and half the one-mile run when a screw came loose and his running leg broke in half.

His mother said, “Everybody was crying…cheering and giving them support.”

  1. This is what we do as service members; I would be upset if they hadn’t. I wish the other parts of our government acted under the same code of ethics as we in the military do. I believe you will find the knights of old had nothing on our brave men and women that protect our way of life. Freedom does not come free, and they pay allot of us. Thank you for what you all do on a daily bases.
