star wars cancer Lucasfilm is teaming up with a celebrity campaign, Stand Up To Cancer, to raise money for cancer research during its launch of the new Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

Movie fans can “Use the Force for Good” by buying specially designed tee shirts, bidding on unique auction items from the Star Wars set, and watching a video with Hollywood actors, like Seth Rogen, Zach Galifianakis, and Samuel Jackson, making fun of their favorite Star Wars scenes.

The campaign launched with its comedian-studded video this week (watch below) to encourage fans to join Lucasfilm in donating to Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C).

100 percent of the winning bids on special Star Wars auction items on eBay will benefit SU2C. The eBay items include rare and exclusive items like dinner with filmmakers George Lucas, Chris Columbus, Francis Ford Coppola, Philip Kaufman and John Lasseter. The charity auction will end in five days, at on September 23rd.

The Stand Up To Cancer line of Star Wars t-shirts feature iconic Star Wars artwork alongside SU2C’s signature upward arrows, with slogans like “Blast Cancer” and “Use the Force for Good.” The tees can be purchased through the end of the year at Standup2cancer.org/usetheforce with proceeds benefitting SU2C.

“Lucasfilm joining with eBay and a wonderful group of actors is an amazing force for good being brought to bear in Stand Up To Cancer’s fight against this disease, and we are profoundly grateful,” said SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz. “SU2C’s mission is to persuade each and every person to support the scientists working to end cancer, and this initiative gives legions of Star Wars fans fun and easy ways to do that.”

Stand Up To Cancer is an ongoing campaign of the Entertainment Industry Foundation for the purpose of galvanizing the entertainment industry in raising funds for groundbreaking cancer research that will get new therapies to patients more quickly.
