A bear might have thought this hammock behind a mountain home would be a good place to take a nap—but he’d have to mount it first.

Courtney Vucekovich was in her kitchen when she noticed the “massive” animal lumbering into her backyard.

The determined bear spent about five minutes trying to balance itself on the hammock—and, luckily she captured it all on video.

“At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” said the 34-year-old who lives in Vail.

“This massive bear was trying to get on the hammock and the next thing I knew, it was flipping over, doing a full-on somersault.”

The property, purchased by her family in August last year, sits at an elevation of 1,900ft (579m) and often attracts local wildlife.

Despite her initial fright, Courtney was thrilled to watch the bear’s amusing antics, before he eventually gave up and wandered off.

“A bear doing a somersault in my backyard—it’s the most Colorado thing that’s ever happened to me.”

“Watching it struggle with the hammock was just so funny. It almost didn’t seem real.”
