A turtle rehab center in Florida turned to an unlikely substance to repair a sea turtle’s fractured shell: denture glue.
A turtle left with a 10-inch crack after a boat strike posed a tough dilemma for the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, Fla. It seemed there were few, if any, options to help repair the fracture. Marine epoxies haven’t worked in the past.
While brainstorming other ways to bond the endangered Green Sea Turtle’s shell back together, Bette Zirkelbach called her dentist, Dr. Fred Troxel.
