The most frustrating thing about being a mother is not knowing whether or not I am getting through to my 16-year-old, so it was encouraging to get confirmation the other day that I am — a little bit, at least.
One priority has been to communicate to my son the importance of thinking for himself and speaking up for what he believes in. I also try to instill in him the importance of speaking his truth.
But isn’t that going to get him into trouble?
