Ten designers from around the world have just broken the record for the world’s tallest sandcastle by building a 55-foot tall sand fortress.

The 17-meter castle, which was built in Duisburg, Germany over the course of three-and-a-half weeks with 3,860 tons of sand, was officially registered as the tallest sandcastle after a Guinness World Records jury made the verdict on September 1st.

If the sheer size of the castle isn’t enough to impress you, the exterior of the breathtaking structure is decorated with intricately carved cultural elements from around the world in recognition of the designer team’s diversity.

The previous world record for the tallest sandcastle was held by Indian artist Sudarsan Pattnaik after he built a 48-foot model back in February.

The German creation will be on display until September 29th.
