For the first time, scientists have identified the parasite that causes honey bee colonies to collapse in professional apiaries. They then went on to treat the infection with complete success using an antibiotic drug, which led to recovery of all infected colonies.

The use of artificial antibiotics could pose a problem for organic apiarists. Under the current circumstances though, it may be reasonable to grant an exception for this (on the other hand though, I heard that the organic apiaries aren’t have as much trouble.
You are right.
I met an organic bee keeper and wrote about it in a blog post here. He’s told me they are experiencing far fewer problems with hives as a result of not using chemicals.
