Lana the rescue dog may have a loving home to call her own, but she hasn’t forgotten what it’s like to live on the streets.

So when she saw a nearby homeless pup outside of her family’s home in Brazil, she decided to share her wealth with the foreign hound.

Lana’s owner Suelen Schaumloeffel says that it has recently been rather chilly in the area, and Lana had been tucked into her dog house with a toasty blanket the night before. Instead of staying warm and cozy inside the dog house, however, she dragged the blanket over to the fence so the stray pup could sleep on it from the other side.

When her fiancé left to go to work last Tuesday morning, they couldn’t help but melt over the sweet exchange.

“I thought, ‘How beautiful what she did for her friend,’” Schaumloeffel told The Dodo. “My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!”

The stray has reportedly appeared in the area more than once, but he has been too skittish for Schaumloeffel to approach him. Schaumloeffel has instead taken to leaving out bowls of food in case he needs a snack.

  3. We adopted Ollie, a little Jack Russell who had spent 2 years in the shelter system. We always let the, “first doggie”, pick the next doggie, so after Ollie got used to us we started taking him to the local adoption fairs and introducing him to other dogs. He was not friendly to any of them and growled and snapped at several. Finally one day he walked over and sat down beside a cute little Chiweenie. We took them for a walk and they seemed perfectly happy together.
    Later when I reviewed their paperwork I realized they had been together in the shelter in the past.
    They had both “failed” 2 other homes, but have been here for 5 years and are not going anywhere.
