In 2003, police in Warwickshire, England, opened a garden shed and found a whimpering, cowering dog. It had been locked in the shed and abandoned. It was dirty and malnourished, and had clearly been abused.
In an act of kindness, the police took the dog, which was a Greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock and known as a willing haven for Animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need.
They named her Jasmine, and they started to think about finding her an adoptive home.
But Jasmine had other ideas. No one remembers now how it began, but she started welcoming all Animal arrivals at the sanctuary. It wouldn’t matter if it was a puppy, a fox cub, a rabbit or, any other lost or hurting Animal, Jasmine would peer into the box or cage and, where possible, deliver a welcoming lick.
Great Pet Net has the story and more pictures
Thanks to others who also submitted the story, Shanti and Shannon!
There is so much we can learn from Jasmine.
How touching! I rescued a greyhound over 6 years ago and he just passed last October. They are wonderful animals. More like a cross between a cat and a pony than like a dog! What wonderful and tender images. Thank you!
So sweet! This made my day
This is just what I needed to read today to remind me that the hurt in all of us can be soothed with just a bit of compassion and understanding.
I think God placed animals here to teach us humans a thing or two. Jasmine is an angel.
I so agree with you Rickysmom, we have a white fluffy cat who we found on the side of the road around guyfawks night 2 years ago, he is such a adorable cat, he just loves our dog Minnie, everytime they see eachother they always greet eachother with a lick, sniff and sweep againist eachother, it is so cute. Minnie is from a pound also, she is lovely in so many ways.
