Boeing recently announced that their new 787 jet assembly plant in South Carolina will be completely powered by renewable energy. The new facility will have a roof covered with solar panels to provide most of the energy needed for operations — a whopping 10-acre solar array.
“Our 787 is manufactured using fewer hazardous materials and designed to consume less fuel, and produce fewer emissions,” said Jim Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “It only makes sense that our business operations in South Carolina reflect the environmental progressiveness of the airplane we’ll build here.”
