Despite the economic crisis in Greece that brought it to the brink of leaving the Euro–or perhaps because of it, in a show of support–millions of tourists are flocking to Athens providing a needed boost for local businesses.
Aegean Airlines, Greece’s largest airline, told Reuters that passenger traffic was up 19 percent in July compared with the same month last year.
The country’s economy ministry estimates that arrivals this year could total around 25 million, about four million more than last year.
